Watched the concert in East Ruthford, NJ tonight at the
Meadowlands. The band was having a ball on the last stop of the USA
tour. Sting was caught smiling a few times during a number of the songs,
particularly when the audience was singing along and he could hear it.
One of the highlights for me was a 'new' Police song that Sting
announced as 'Here is an old song many of you have never heard before - 1784.'
It was a very hard rocking song, almost like a sequel to Synchronicity.
It was short and fast, perhaps a little less than four minutes long.
It seemed very modern for today's radio play. I am not sure if the band
was testing out an attempt at new material or not - if they were, they
got a positive response as the crowd cheered at the end of it - since
they could not sing along it was one of the few times there was little
singing in the whole concert. As it was, this was longer than the
average Police concert - an hour and 50 minutes, and 18 songs. All in all, a
great time.
Marisa's side note: I've been informed that the song described above is actually Truth Hits Everybody, not a new song.
