Tonight I was escorted by my friend's 17 yrold son who'd
never seen the Police. We had a blast! The venue is gorgeous--perfect
acoustics for both Fiction Plane & the Police. 1st let me say that anyone
who doesn't arrive on time to see FP is missing out on a major concert
experience. Particularly if the venue is more intimate, as B/Walk Hall.
This night, in many ways, Fiction Plane stole the show. Ther youthful
exuberance and onstage assault actually brought me to tears during a new
song about 1/2way through their set. Their performance took me back
about 25 years to the best shows I had ever seen, i.e., the Clash and the
Police. Fiction Plane is a force to be reckoned with-3 outstanding
musicians, I do believe that Pete the drummer was actually pounding as
hard as Stewart! Seton on guitar & Joe on bass are so into their music it is
electrifying to watch them. Now on to the Police. This show was killer
from the first note until the last. The Police came out like a
cannonball and were just relentless.
The crowd had a slow start, pissing Sting off. He
seemed in a bad mood anyway, & later made a remark to 'Andrew' about messing
up. Their interaction was definitely more curt than on Fri. Sting's
remark to Andy seemed to fire him up, I don't think he had any flaws the
rest of the night. Sting did have some screw-ups w/lyrics, timing, & once
again that flute intro to WRAPPED. Stewart showed extreme and utter
prowess on every piece of percussion. He is truly the master of this tour.
He is fascinating to watch & in 3 concerts I couldn't pick up on any
mistakes. I paid close attention to Sting's bass playing as well,&it is just
as impressive as his voice, which is in super strong shape. He held a
note that could have been a song in itself in the 1st part of the show,
and then again just before the end. Would never know he had laryngitis
recently. My escort's face & reaction told the whole story, when I asked
him well wha'd ya think? He beamed & said 'ridiculous!' In teenspeak
that is = to awesome.
