The Police's Charlotte, North Carolina concertNovember 15, 2007Review by Mike. This was the show after the cancellation in Philly due to Sting's flu. I was worried, but the show went on and was flippin' great! Sting's voice was razor sharp, sounding better than ever to me, in fact. The energy was high and the audience was into the whole show. Stewart was on it despite a drum kit issue that caused his late entrance into the second tune. And I mean On It, Copeland-style. Andy showed out real well too, filling that place with guitar sound and unique musicality. Sting's energy, bass, charisma and, as mentioned, voice were top notch. They gave a good show. The laid-back modernization of some jamming tunes was good overall and I think they achieved their goal of reworking songs while still pleasing the old ear for the originals, with one note of exception. As a drummer, I really, really missed some of those driving beats, most notably the pushed-tempo slapping toward the end of Driven to Tears. Oh, well, I loved it and many, many thanks to the fellas!!!
