The Police are awesome no doubt. But, I think they might
be slightly tired, as its been many months of almost non-stop touring
for them, so give them credit. However, not many artists like Sting
being the only vocalist (with no background singers unlike their
Sychronicity tour) and keep the crowd going. I think Andy's guitar riffs were a
bit over done, and this is an aging audience, not sure if they want to
hear serious guitar solos. The Police is at their greatest at their
softer hits (message in a bottle, wrapped around your finger, every little
things she does is magic, etc.) because Sting is a more refined
singer. I saw him for his Universal Amphitheater tour in Los Angeles, and he
was simple sensational, and I think that suits his style now, its hard
to pull off stuff from their punk era first album days. But, keeping an
open mind, one cant expect them to have the jumping energy like they
did in during the Sychronicity tour, but you will no doubt be
entertained. Do see them.
Sting is the product of the Police, from the early punk
to the reggae influences, to his solo career - his style is evolving.
Very few artists unlike Sting or by comparison, Madonna, can keep
evolving and keep their audience with them (and gain new fans too.)
