The Police's London, England concertSeptember 8, 2007Review by Russ Hughes. Having seen them at Stafford Bingley Hall in 1980 and 1981 this was a moment I really never believed I would see again. They were tight, energetic and still able to hold an audience of 55,000 people as if there were just a room full of us. Sting's bass and vocals were tight and in tune all night (although some melodies have been changed to deal with his inabilty to hit the top notes). Andy Summers was amazing and better than I remember, every lick and riff just filled with perfect melody and timing. He used his trademark Telecaster in several songs which put the icing on the cake. Then of course Stewart was still as vibrant and the rhythm powerhouse he has always been. The thing you need to remember and the thing that always made The Police incredible was the sound coming off stage from just 3 players; no session musicians or singers in site, no backing tracks. This gig dispelled any notion that my memories of how good they are was through rose tinted spectacles. THEY ARE THE BEST!
